My name is
Salifu Mohammed (alaagy). I grew up in the small village
of Wa in the upper west region of northern Ghana, called
Busa. I moved to the town of Wa after my elementary school
where I recieved my secondary education. I continued to
pursue my education in the arts at Ghanatta College of
Art in the regional capital of Accra. After receiving
my certificate in art and design, I enrolled at Ankle
College of Art, majoring in drawing and painting.
I have since exhibited at many venues in Ghana. Some of
these are; the Golden Tulip Hotel, the British Council
of Ghana, the National Theatre of Ghana, and the National
Museum and Monument Board of Ghana. Private collections
of my paintings can be found in the United States, Canada,
England, and Germany.
Since relocating to the Bay Area, I have displayed at
the Spirit in Stone Gallery in Sonoma County, CA, Bomani
Gallery in San Francisco, CA, as well as Pro Art in Oakland,
CA and Town Hall in Seattle, WA. Currently my work is
on display at the Aroma Cafe, San Rafael, CA. (See calendar
